As I intently watched the news of the capture of Saddam Hussein and saw his photograph, the Lord brought to mind Isaiah 14: 15-17 (Amplified) “Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol [Hades], to the inmost recesses of the pit [the region of the dead]. Those who see you will gaze at you and consider you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms? Who made the world like a wilderness and overthrew its cities, who would not permit his prisoners to return home?” This passage in many ways exemplifies the events of today and the acts that Hussein carried out. Journalists have described that Hussein was found in a rat hole – a pit if you will. Similar to the words in this passage, under Hussein’s leadership the Iraqis have suffered oppression and cruelty, being imprisoned in their own land.
Isaiah 14 is a proverb spoken against the king of Babylon as if he were Satan himself. It was likely written in relationship to the Babylonian empire that had oppressed the Jews by exacting large revenues from them, and thus cruelly oppressing them. A similar spirit was at work in and through Saddam Hussein, revenues were extracted from the Iraqis, 100s of thousands were cruelly put to death and/or oppressed.
Although we know that the battle is not over, the capture of Hussein has resulted in rejoicing throughout the nation of Iraq and the world. Even those who opposed the initial war have risen to make statements of relief. This is reflected in Isaiah 14:7b“they break forth into shouts of joy.”
Scripture has in part been fulfilled as the events of today have unfolded – “a man,” Saddam Hussein who in many ways reflected Satan himself has been captured. God has intervened, just as He did in the days of the Babylonian empire. “The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of rulers Which used to strike the peoples in fury with unceasing strokes, Which subdued the nations in anger with unrestrained persecution.” (Isaiah 14:5-6, NASB) During the days of the Babylonian empire, God used the hand of Cyrus. Today He used the coalition forces. (Haven’t Bush and Cyrus been compared? It is interesting to note that in the third year of Cyrus’ reign, Daniel was given understanding of his terrifying vision. This is the third year of President Bush’s administration – let’s be persistent in our prayers for him and other national leaders that God will continue to give them the revelation they need to bring about God’s purposes for this time.)
Isaiah continued to speak about Babylon in 14:20-23 (Amplified): “You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land and have slain your people. May the descendants of evildoers nevermore be named! Prepare a slaughtering place for his sons because of the guilt and iniquity of their fathers, so that they may not rise, possess the earth and fill the face of the world with cities. And I will rise up against them, says the Lord of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and son and son’s son, says the Lord. I will also make it a possession of the hedgehog and porcupine, and marshes and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says the Lord of hosts.” Hussein was attempting to rebuild Babylon. In the past months we have seen sons and nephews captured or executed. The word of God clearly states that the spirit of Babylon will not rise and fill the earth again. Saddam’s lineage and the impact of the Babylonian spirit working through them will no longer rule and reign in Iraq. Another tentacle of the Babylonian spirit has been brought to judgment.
John 3:16-21 reflects the Father’s heart toward the unbelieving world:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
In this passage, Jesus clearly stated that anyone who does not believe in Him will be condemned. There still remains a spiritual war over the souls of the men and women who remain under the influence of the spiritual forces that have ruled and reigned in Iraq. Although there is “relief” from the maddening and oppressive yoke that was imposed by Hussein, the only true freedom resides in knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. Let us join in prayer that in this season of “relief” from the oppressive spirit represented by Hussein, great revelation of the truth of the person of Jesus Christ will come to the inhabitants of Iraq and surrounding regions. Isaiah 26:9 “for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A PROPHETIC WORD THROUGH KIM CLEMENT from November 22, 2003.
"I'm hearing echoes that are coming beyond the veil. I'm hearing God say to me,
"You spoke about Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden being together and a lot of them rejected what you said. It doesn't matter what I said. I'm telling you this right now. Legs are about to be removed, and God is about to bring forth those that have hidden and taken people into captivity. The reason that I say that is because the time is drawing nigh. This must be the merriest Christmas that we have ever had.
In fact, I want to wish you something. I want to tell you, "Have the merriest Christmas that you have ever had. It's not going to be anything but a Merry Christmas.
I say to you, "Merry Christmas everybody because America shall. C'mon! Hallelujah! C'mon! C'mon! Hallelujah! I wish you a Merry, Merry Christmas. Everybody say, "I wish you a Merry, Merry Christmas." Turn around and tell somebody that now. America, enjoy your Christmas."
