How the Mighty Have Fallen!

"When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed." (Dan 12:7)

This week's decision Israeli government of unilateral disengagement taken, in the midst of ongoing conflict, is a victory for terror and a very dangerous precedent for the future.

With this decision to uproot all Jews from Gaza, there is a sense that a new chapter has begun in Israeli politics. Ariel Sharon is the strongest Prime Minister that Israel has had since David Ben-Gurion (1948-63). No leader has been able to stand up under international pressure as Ariel Sharon has. But now, this champion of Jewish settlement in Samaria, Judea, and Gaza has caved in under international and domestic pressure, and there is no other leader visible on the horizon to take his place. "How the mighty have fallen!" (2 Sam 1:19)

This week a group of prophetic intercessors told us, that the Lord has shown them that there will be a crisis this summer, where Israel will be left without a government.

But we know that the Bible says, "'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." (Zec 4:6)

Man's failures and shortcomings will not undo the Lord's faithfulness. Deuteronomy 32:35-36 says, "'It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.' The LORD will judge his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free." (Deu 32:35-36)

It is time for the Lord to act! We are about to enter a season of judgment as well as of deliverance; judgment over sin and wickedness among God's people and deliverance for those who are serving Him. It will be a difficult and dangerous time when we really need to pray, but it will also be a glorious time.

We are not saying, "Thus saith the Lord," but it is possible that within a year or so, the present difficult situation in the Middle East could give rise to the introduction of the Antichrist on the world scene. Even if this is the case, we should not be afraid. These things must happen and when they do take place, it only means that our redemption is that much closer. We must not be afraid to face the last days but rejoice more and more in the Lord!

The Lord has promised Israel,

"There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, 'Destroy him!' So Israel will live in safety alone; Jacob’s spring is secure in a land of grain and new wine, where the heavens drop dew. Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places." (Deut 33:26-29)
