As many of you are well aware, this year’s G8 Summit will take place on Sea Island, GA from June 8-10.  At our 50 State Tour meeting in Georgia, we prophesied on July 11, 2003 that Georgia would be host to a high level governmental summit.  The very next day the newspaper headlines read “Sea Island (GA) May Play Host to G-8 Summit”.  Jacquie Tyre, our USSPN Coordinator for Georgia, is mobilizing prayer for this key gathering of world leaders.  You can follow her detailed prayer focus below.

Georgia to host the G8 Summit 2004, June 8-10, on Sea Island

G8 Prayer Initiative – www.g8prayer.org  

During Georgia’s 50-State Tour Meeting (July 11-12. 2003), Chuck Pierce & Dutch Sheets prophesied that Georgia would be host to a “high-level governmental summit.” They continued stating that by the time the summit arrived “the Church would be ruling and reigning in such a way that what God had been saying from heaven would penetrate into them—that he would change the course of the way the nations are aligned. Destinies of nations would be shaped when they came to Georgia.”  The next morning the newspaper headlines confirmed this word. 

Recently, Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia proclaimed June 3-10, 2004 G8 Prayer Initiative Week. The proclamation reads: 

Whereas:          Our great state of Georgia has been honored to host the G8 Summit 2004 on Sea Island, Georgia on June 8-10, 2004; and

Whereas:          The gathering of the Group of Eight and other invited dignitaries and guests gives us the opportunity to show our hospitality and provide the best in security and safety; and

Whereas:          The accords made at the G8 Summit will help world leaders make decisions dealing with problems of war, famine, disease and other international issues; and
Whereas: As followers of the Lord, we have been exhorted to pray for all the people of the world and their leaders; and

Whereas:          There will be a series of meetings to offer people an opportunity to come together to worship and pray for those participating in the G8 Summit; now

Therefore:          I, SONNY PERDUE, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim June 3-10, 2004, as G8 PRAYER INITIAIVE WEEK in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 11th day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand four.

The past several months, we have worked diligently to prepare and call the Church to engage at the Global Gate of the G8 Summit through worship and intercession.  The Lord has led us into a strategic relationship with an international ministry devoted to the global governmental arena – the Institute for Global Affairs.  This has proven to be a tremendous blessing for us.  Amazing doors have opened for us to pray on-site in the general area of the G8 meetings, to lay hands on the Summit Table, to meet with governmental officials, and to network with wonderful men and women of God across the state, nation, and around the world.  The stories are too numerous to recount at this time.  Our God continually blesses us with His grace and favor as we follow His leading onto the Global Gate of the G8 2004. We are deeply humbled and challenged by the call of the Lord upon our state and nation at this time in history.

Now, the time is here to call the Church around the USA and the world to join us in engaging at the global gate of the G8 Summit 2004 through worship, intercession, and declarations.  The Lord has declared to us that, as we welcome the kings of the earth we will be welcoming the King of glory to come and govern over the affairs of the Summit.  Blessed leaders bless people.  Our mandate is to live and pray according to Philippians 2 in a position of humility, and Revelation 4 of laying down our crowns before the Throne. Worship is our primary emphasis as we exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords – the government is upon His shoulders and of its increase there shall be no end (Isaiah 9:6-7).

1. Please pray for the Heads of State of the G8, and those sitting in observer status    at the Summit: 

i.       President George W. Bush, United States of America

ii.       Prime Minister Paul Martin, Canada

iii.      Prime Minister Tony Blair, United Kingdom

iv.      Prime Minister Junichiro Koizuimi, Japan

v.       Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Germany

vi.      President Silvio Berlusconi, Italy

vii.     President Jacques Chirac, France

viii.     President Vladmir Putin, Russia

1.   Observer Status from the European Union:

a.   Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission

b.   Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, Ireland

I Timothy 2:1-3 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  For his is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.”

2. Presence of God to permeate

i.       Sea Island, St Simons Jekyll Island & Brunswick (area closest to the Summit)

ii.       Savannah (site of the press corps headquarters & the majority of the protesters)

iii.      Atlanta (governmental gate of the state)

iv.      Georgia & the United States – official host nation & state for the G8

Zechariah 2:5 "For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst." 

Exodus 33:15 "Then he (Moses) said to Him, 'If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth."

3. Protection of the Lord to cover:

i.       Any plots of terrorist attack against the Heads of State gathering on Sea Island, Jekyll Island or surrounding areas;

ii.       Gatherings of protesters & demonstrators on St Simons Island (June 7-8), Savannah (June 7-10), and other areas around the country and in the G8 nations;

iii.            The entire nation, military bases & troops around the world, and all US territories. 

iv.      The  Nations of the World (there is an increased risk worldwide with so many Heads of State on assignment for the G8)

Psalm 18:1-3 "I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my delivers; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies."

4. Direction of the Lord to guide

i.       The leaders of the G8 Summit,

ii.       The military, police and other security agencies covering the areas affected by the G8 Summit and side-meetings,

iii.      The G8 Prayer Summit gatherings, including the pre-summit gatherings.

Psalm 31:3 "For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name's sake, Lead me and guide me."

Psalm 32:8-9 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you."

And the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory?  The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.  Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.”

Habakkuk 2:14 “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
