New Orleans
Area (April 23- 25, 2004)
We met in Chalmette, LA,
which is part of greater New Orleans and is located on the eastern shores of the
Mississippi River. Before arriving in Chalmette, the Lord began to say to me
that these were the people who could turn the battle at the gate. I believe they
will play a big part in the battle of this nation. Chalmette is where the battle
of New Orleans, part of the War of 1812, was won by Jackson. The war memorial at
the park has a plaque that basically says they were instrumental in winning the
war for this nation. Who knows, maybe they will do it again in the spiritual
realm. This was also a place where slaves were traded, so we find ourselves on
the same trade route.
The Mississippi River is
probably the largest trade route in
America,
and therefore very significant. The Lord spoke the territorial spirit there was
Jean Lafitte. He was known as a pirate who controlled the islands that enter the
River, placing him very much in control of what was trafficked on the river. He
engaged in smuggling and privateering, with his
kingdom
of Barataria recognizing the sovereignty of no other nation. He saw himself as a
privateer serving economic purpose in an economically frugal time in a new
country that needed to economize. He kept a crew of a thousand men who kept a
constant cargo of black-marketed and necessary provisions (including negro
slaves, a very important commodity to the early South) moving through the
Mississippi Delta.
Once again we dealt with
slave trade and the trade routes of the earth. God is so smart if we just
recognize He has us in certain places at certain times to bring release to the
nations.
Your prayers are the
necessary ingredient that makes these trips successful.
Thank you for praying,
Martha
