Fort Knox

First, we went to the George Patton Museum for a very interesting tour. We saw a gold bar bullion that was worth $366,000. There were many displays of war and different tanks used in the various battles. The enemy had many large tanks but the American ingenuity and technology played a large part in our victories. George Patton quote: “I fight where I am told and I win where I flight!” (The army of the Lord should adopt this motto!”)

While at the gift shop we learned that we could only get on the grounds of Ft. Knox if we had a military I.D. Up to that point we were told we couldn’t get in. Lori said she had a military I.D. from the Naval Academy. We were very excited and on we went and through the check point! Thank you, Lord, for opening the door for our entry.

Upon entering Ft. Knox, Martha began releasing proclamations:

Hear O’ Heaven, Hear O’ Earth:

Psalm 24:1-The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness (all that is therein), the world and they that well therein.

Num. 10:2-Make two silver trumpets to call forth the assembly of the people and for moving forward. Sound an alarm for war.

Deut 8:18-But you shall remember the Lord God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, THAT HE MAY ESTABLISH HIS COVENANT.

Isa. 45:2- I will go before thee, and make the crooked places (swollen-like the river Jordan) straight (lawful). I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron. Give you treasures of darkness and hidden riches in secret places.

Haggai 2:8-9—The Silver and Gold is mine, saith the Lord of Hosts……!

Psalm 24:7-- Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

I (Martha) had received two emails (with the Lord speaking about silver two times I knew to listen up) the day before we went that included a dream and a prophetic word –

· The word said we were to bury a silver coin as a trespass offering as that was the offering required in the Word and also the silver trumpets were to call the people to war. The other was a dream which follows.

· Maggie had a dream early this AM re Martha had a contraption similar to a Science revolving planets stand only larger: Each silver arm attached to stand had silver symbols: It whirled around very fast then stopped. All aligned up to form silver corner with letter N on top. Martha said “I knew it the battle is in the North!” Tried to go thru an open doorway but the contraption was in doorway; I tried to carefully move each delicate silver arm out of way but only Martha could move it: Scripture about having strength to turn back enemy at gate came to mind: Found gate little to North of us on map Gate of Healing Oil: also found verses in IS 28 re spiritual blindness; error in vision; not having sound judgment; and no place is clean seems to reflect what we see here including much chaos: We will make declarations at gate opposite of above. We drove around looking for a place to bury the silver coin (trespass offering) and to drive in the brass stake! We found a place under a tree in the parking lot of the Red Cross building. We drove in the stake and declared the Scripture written on it—Isaiah 54:2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.”

We buried the silver coin and Martha declared Leviticus 5:14-16:

The Trespass Offering “The LORD said to Moses: “When a person commits a violation and sins unintentionally in regard to any of the Lord’s holy things, he is to bring to the LORD as a penalty a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel. It is a trespass offering. He must make restitution for what he has failed to do in regard to the holy things, add a fifth of the value to that and give it all to the priest, who will make atonement for him with the ram as a trespass offering, and he will be forgiven.”

SUMMONS TO APPEAR BEFORE THE COURT OF HEAVEN

We, God’s covenant people who have been called to represent Him on this earth do hereby call this Court of Heaven to order. Let the court be seated in the Name of Jesus and the books be opened. We are appeal to the Ancient of Days, for to Him and Him alone has been given dominion and glory and the kingdom that all people, nations and languages to serve Him. For His dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom the one that shall not be destroyed. (Daniel 7:21-27)

COMPLAINT

On this day we state our complaint and set forth our demand for judgment.

We hereby give you notice:

Whereas we the people of God call you to remembrance this day of the illegal seizure of the wealth of the citizens of this nation through fraud, deceit and thievery, that was executed on the premise of a New Deal for the American people.

Hear now what the LORD says:
Arise, plead your case before the mountains,
And let the hills hear your voice.
Hear, O you mountains, the Lord’s complaint,
And you strong foundations of the earth; (Micah 6:1-2, NKV)

Whereas the defendant, Mammon, has sought to control the nation’s wealth through its government, its economy, and through false religion, a three-fold cord of evil shaped as a triangle, which is the shape of Satan’s kingdom in the earth.

Exhibit A: Government

The New Deal represented…….

“Throughout the nation men and women, forgotten in the political philosophy of the Government, look to us here for guidance and for more equitable opportunity to share in the distribution of national wealth…I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people. This is more than a political campaign. It is a call to arms. ”

The New Deal represented a significant shift in political and domestic policy in the U.S. with its more lasting changes being increase federal government over the economy, and money supply intervention to control prices, and agricultural production.

The New Deal was the title that the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave to a sequence of programs and promises he initiated between 1933 and 1938 with the goal of giving relief to the poor, reform of the financial system, and recovered of the economy during the Great Depression.

Exhibit B: Economy

The Great Depression was a devastating financial trauma that opened the door for people to readily accept the New Deal without totally understanding its consequences. The Great Depression was engineered by a few men seeking their own gain and power at the expense of the masses.

Exhibit C: Religion

False religion through the structures of Freemasonry, the Illuminati and the Society of Cincinnati engineered and carried out their orders from Mammon, whom they served to guard and protect this wealth, and to gain even more wealth through war. Example: World War II.

Furthermore, this structure we are addressing today serves as a monument to the efforts of the defendant to counterfeit and usurp the authority that has been given by almighty God to His Church through the covenant of blood that was shed on the cross by His Son, Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1: 24-28—

Proclamation for Ft. Knox, Kentucky
September 8, 2008

In the Name of Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God we declare to principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, wicked spirits in high places that we have been given the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and we bind you with chains and fetter you and command the strongman of Mammon to be bound and your power broken over Ft. Knox, Kentucky and the surrounding area. You have come at us with your sword, spears and words of defeat, but we come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. We further command you in that name that is above every name named that you must bow and release your hold on the people of God and the wealth that according to the written Word of God says it all belongs to HIM, the Ancient of Days and His Kingdom.

The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, but the violent take it by force. We come today to declare war on you Satan and all your followers. We say to you that you will bow your knee to the Kingdom of Heaven and that God’s will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven

We declare that this day September 8, 2008 a political and religious campaign (a systematic course of aggressive activity) for the Kingdom of God is here and you Satan cannot stop what God has started and the Government shall be upon His shoulders and of the increase of His Kingdom and His Peace there shall be no end. The Knowledge of the Glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea and this truth shall be established beginning today and will continue until every kingdom of this world will submit to the Kingdom of God.

We further make known to you Satan that the wisdom of God is being made known through the Church, that the world may know the there is no other God beside Jehovah.

We, as the people of God, a member of His Holy Nation and a part of His Royal Priesthood, overcome you by the blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony and loving not our lives unto the death. According to the written Word of God –Jesus became a curse for us that the blessings of Abraham might come upon the gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

We, therefore, declare unto you Satan that the Blood Covenant we have with God through Jesus Christ defeated, disarmed, triumphed, conquered, spoiled all your power, and authority and every curse spoken that would bind or otherwise hold in bondage the wealth and the people from receiving all that the Cross of Christ redeemed and has given to us, here in this time. So NOW we are here as ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth to say that your illegal titles and your time as Prince of the Power of the Air, ruler of this world and god of this world are brought to the cross and nullified and taken from you and your power and authority is now stopped according to the Word of God which says Jesus paid the price to redeem ALL things back to the Father and has given us – the people of God – the ministry of reconciliation in order to put into effect the redemptive plan of the Father and take back everything for the Kingdom of God.

For this purpose was the Son of God made manifest, that HE might destroy the works of you Satan. You are hereby once again notified of your complete destruction.

I declare to you, Satan, Ps 24:1-2 “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.”

I further declare to you, Satan, Hag 2:6-9 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: “in a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, ’says the Lord Almighty. ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, ‘says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace, ‘declares the Lord Almighty.”

I declare to you, Satan, that you have been found out and you are now forbidden to continue to steal from the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and from the people of God and that you must restore all you have stolen and with interest upon interest. Ten thousand times a million.

Furthermore, you have obtained this wealth through illegal seizure according to U. S. Congress Act New Deal Number One of 1933 and the Second New Deal of 1935-36, which we now repeal and call unconstitutional according to the laws of Heaven.

We further declare the Lord of the Breakthrough has gone before us to break the bars of iron and the gates of brass and they are open unto us that the hidden riches in secret places and the treasures of darkness must now be made manifest unto the people of God in order to establish His Covenant in the Earth, that the God of Israel might be glorified.

Therefore, we have come to disarm your armory and your occultic hidden agendas, secret societies *(see below the Society of the Cincinnati linked to Henry Knox) and we now shut the gates of hell and open the gates of the Kingdom of Heaven that the Lord Sabaoth might come with the armies of heaven and guard these gates from any further illegal seizures and from those controllers of the wealth who would do so by war. Let the noise of the host of heaven go forth throughout the earth to strike fear into those who are children of disobedience, those who have no fear of the Lord before their eyes, that they might acknowledge You as Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

We now proclaim to the rich men of the earth that according to James 5, that you have heaped up treasure for the last days, but you have obtained it by fraud, theft and deception and your money will witness against you and you will weep and howl because your money has become corrupt. The cries of those you have defrauded have reached the ears of Lord Sabaoth and He will repay.

We further declare the gate into this Nation for unrighteous, illegal trade is shut and will not be re-opened; we forbid it in the Name of Jesus the Christ!

We now plant as a trespass offering a piece of silver, which we ask you Lord to receive, and forgive our sin and our trespass, which demands the injustice be satisfied. We declare that today we turn from our wicked ways and Your promise is You will come and heal our land. Lord, receive our trespass offering and hear our prayer.

We now proclaim to the Harlot of Babylon we forbid you to have the wealth of the United States of America, it will be for the Kingdom of God.

We say send the former and the latter rain that You, Lord, might receive the harvest You have long waited for.

Henry Knox (July 25, 1750 – October 25, 1806) was an American bookseller from Boston who became the chief artillery officer of the Continental Army and later the nation's first Secretary of War and for whom Fort Knox was named after!

After Yorktown, Knox was promoted to major general. In 1782 he was given command of the post at West Point. In 1783 he was one of the founders of the Society of the Cincinnati, and led the American forces into New York City as the British withdrew. He stood next to Washington during his farewell on December 4 at Fraunces Tavern. After Washington retired, Knox served as the senior officer of the Continental Army from December 1783 until he left it in June 1784.

The later Society

The Cincinnati were integral in establishing many of America's first and largest cities to the west of the Appalachians, most notably Cincinnati, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The first governor of the Northwest Territory, Arthur St. Clair, was a member of the Society. He renamed a small settlement "Cincinnati" to honor the Society and to encourage Society members to settle there. Lt. Ebenezer Denny (1761-1822), an original Pennsylvanian Cincinnatus, was elected the first mayor of the incorporated city of Pittsburgh in 1816.

From this we see once again secret societies and the part they play in all of the history of the United States of America.

Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.

Job 27:13-17--13 "Here is the fate God allots to the wicked, the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty: However many his children, their fate is the sword; his offspring will never have enough to eat. The plague will bury those who survive him, and their widows will not weep for them. Though he heaps up silver like dust and clothes like piles of clay, what he lays up the righteous will wear, and the innocent will divide his silver.

Psalm 68:11-14--The Lord gives the word [of power]; the women who bear and publish [the news] are a great host. The kings of the enemies' armies, they flee, they flee! She who tarries at home divides the spoil [left behind]. Though you [the slackers] may lie among the sheepfolds [in slothful ease, yet for Israel] the wings of a dove are covered with silver, its pinions excessively green with gold [are trophies taken from the enemy]. When the Almighty scattered kings in [the land], it was as when it snows on Zalmon [a wooded hill near Shechem].

Psalm 135:15--The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

Isaiah 1:22-27—22--Your silver has become dross, your wine is mixed with water. Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes and runs after compensation and rewards. They judge not for the fatherless nor defend them, neither does the cause of the widow come to them [for they delay or turn a deaf ear. Therefore says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will appease Myself on My adversaries and avenge Myself on My enemies. And I will bring My hand again upon you and thoroughly purge away your dross [as with lye] and take away all your tin or alloy. And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterward you shall be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City. Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her [returned] converts with righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God).

Martha saw the horizon line over Kentucky. Ginny Marks and Linda Whitaker began declaring and proclaiming and releasing life over Kentucky. They declared the Mason-Dixon Line would be erased and there would be no more division between the north and south. The strongman is Mammon at the top of the triangle, then curses and bloodshed are the sides and war is at the bottom! They bound Mammon and broke off greed (excessive desire for money) and poverty from the land that had been defiled by idolatry, broken covenants, bloodshed and iniquities. We repented and broke agreement with the Spirit of Mammon!

Luke 16:13- No servant can serve two masters…you cannot serve God and Mammon!

We declared Babylon the great is fallen—(Rev. 18:1-30—This passage speaks of a time when the economic system of this world will collapse. Wealth won’t collapse, but the present system of trade domination will. “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins. (Rev. 18:4-6)

Prophetic declaration:

“You shall eat of the riches of the Gentiles!” (Isa. 61:6)

“The wealth of the gentiles shall come to you. (Isa. 60:5)

We called the hidden treasures forth to start surfacing from the land of Kentucky!

We took communion and cleansed the land with the broken bread and poured out wine.

We then started looking for the U.S. Bullion Depository building. We were driving around and around and suddenly there it was right before us. We stopped and made declarations and proclamations.

The U.S. Bullion Depository, commonly called Ft. Knox, is a fortified vault building located near Ft. Knox, Kentucky, which is used to store a large portion of U.S. official gold reserves, as well as from time to time, other precious items belonging to, or entrusted to, the U.S. of America.

The U.S. Bullion Depository holds about 4,603 tons (4,176 metric tons) of gold bullion. It is second in the U.S. only to the Federal Reserve Bank of N.Y.C.’s underground vault in Manhattan, which holds about 5,000 metric tons of gold in trust for many foreign nations, central banks and official international organizations.

History of the U.S. Bullion Depository

Before the election of F.D.R. in 1932, gold coins had circulated freely in the U.S. as legal money, and gold bullion was owned by banks and other private entities. In early 1933, as part of the New Deal, the U.S. Congress enacted a package of laws which removed gold from circulation as money, and which made private ownership of gold in the U.S. (except for coins in collections or jewelry such as wedding rings) illegal. All gold in circulation was seized by the government in exchange for dollars at the fixed rate of $20.67 per ounce. Owners of gold bullion in the U.S. were also required to trade it for other forms of money. All of this left the government of the U.S. with a large amount of gold metal, and no place to store it.

In 1936, the U.S. Treasury Department began construction of the United States Bullion Depository at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, on land transferred from the military. The Gold Vault was completed in December 1936 at a cost of $560,000, or about $7.5 million in 2007 dollars. The site is located on what is now Bullion Boulevard at the intersection of Gold Vault Road.

The first gold shipments were made from January to July 1937. The majority of the U.S. gold reserves were gradually shipped to the site, including old bullion and more newly made bars made from melted gold coins. Some intact coins were stored, as well. The transfer needed 500 rail cars and was sent by registered mail, protected by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

During the W.W. II, the repository held the original U.S. Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. It also held the reserves of several European. countries and several key documents from Western History; for example, it held the Crown of St. Stephen, part of the Hungarian crown jewels given to American soldiers to prevent them from falling into Soviet hands. The repository also held one of four known copies of the Magna Carta, which had been sent for display at the 1939 N.Y. World Fair, and when war broke out, was kept in America for the duration.

In 1900, Kentucky enjoyed the highest income per capita in the South. Then in 1937, the U.S. gold bullion was moved to Ft. Knox. Just was Ft. Knox was receiving its first shipment of gold bullion, a horrific flood from the Ohio River struck Louisville. By 1940, Kentucky had the lowest income per capita in the entire nation! The Lord spoke to Jan Painter, a prophet and long-time board member of C.I. ministry that Ft. Knox is the gate for the distribution of wealth for our nation.

Linda Whitaker spoke to Jim Chose about this. He seemed almost too nervous to even talk about it. He did tell me that shamans of every Indian tribe had placed generational curses on the gold, many through blood sacrifices. To this day, some will not accept our currency as gifts, only the goods that it buys because of those curses.

Martha and team broke off all curses from shamans from the gold and off the land. We severed all ties with England and with Germany and forbid any further defilement of the land and called forth all the redemptive gifts in Kentucky. We declared the wells of revival to come forth—from the Asbury revival and the Cane Ridge revival.

I feel like David did when he went up against Goliath. This spirit of Mammon has been in control of what belongs to God too long. Is it not time to take it back?

1 Sam 17:29-30 - “And David said, "What have I done now? Is there not a cause?" Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.”

1 Sam 17:45-47 – “Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands."

Are we as the people of God supposed to back up because a curse has been put on the money? I don’t think so. I rather think God is asking us to go after what belongs to him.

Gal 3:13-14 – “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Col 2:15 – [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross]. He spoiled them. It is time to take the spoil.

Those will find a ready road that have God going before them. (5.) No opposition shall stand before him. He that gives him his commission will break in pieces the gates of brass that are shut against him, and cut asunder the bars of iron wherewith they are fastened. This was fulfilled in the letter, if that be true which Herodotus reports, that the city of Babylon had 100 gates all of brass, with posts and hooks of the same metal.

2. He shall replenish his coffers very much (v. 3): I will give thee the treasures of darkness, treasures of gold and silver, that have been long kept close under lock and key and had not seen the light of many years, or had been buried under ground by the inhabitants, in their fright, upon the taking of the city. The riches of many nations had been brought to Babylon, and Cyrus seized all together. The hidden riches of secret places, which belonged either to the crown or to private persons, shall all be a prey to Cyrus. Thus God, designing him to do a piece of service to his church, paid him richly for it beforehand; and Cyrus very honestly owned God's goodness to him, and, in consideration of that, released the captives. Ezra 1:2, God has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and thereby has obliged me to build him a house at Jerusalem.

II. We are here told what God designed in doing all this for Cyrus. What Cyrus aimed at in undertaking his wars we may easily guess; but what God aimed at in giving him such wonderful success in his wars we are here told.

1. It was that the God of Israel might be glorified: "That thou mayest know by all this that I the Lord am the God of Israel; for I have called thee by thy name long before thou wast born." When Cyrus should have this prophecy of Isaiah shown to him, and should there find his own name and his own achievements particularly described so long before, he should thereby be brought to acknowledge that the God of Israel was the Lord, Jehovah, the only living and true God, and that he continued to own his Israel though now in captivity. It is well when thus men's prosperity brings them to the knowledge of God, for too often it makes them forget him.

2. It was that the Israel of God might be released, v. 4. Cyrus knew not God as the God of Israel. Having been trained up in the worship of idols, the true God was to him an unknown God. But, though he knew not God, God not only knew him when he came into being, but foreknew him, and bespoke him for his shepherd. He called him by his name, Cyrus, nay, which was yet great honour, he surnamed him and called him his anointed. And why did God do all this for Cyrus? Not for his own sake, be it known to him; whether he was a man of virtue or no is questioned. Xenophon indeed, when he would describe the heroic virtues of an excellent prince, made use of Cyrus's name, and many of the particulars of his story, in his Cyropaedia; but other historians represent him as haughty, cruel, and bloodthirsty. The reason why God preferred him was for Jacob his servant's sake. Note, (1.) In all the revolutions of states and kingdoms, the sudden falls of the great and strong, and the surprising advancements of the weak and obscure, God is designing the good of his church. (2.) It is therefore the wisdom of those to whom God has given wealth and power to use them for his glory, by showing kindness to his people. Cyrus is preferred that Israel may be released. He shall have a kingdom, only that God's people may have their liberty; for their kingdom is not of this world, it is yet to come. In all this Cyrus was a type of Christ, who was made victorious over principalities and powers, and entrusted with unsearchable riches, for the use and benefit of God's servants, his elect. When he ascended on high he led captivity captive, took those captives that had taken others captives, and opened the prison to those that were bound.

This is a decree to make the wealth of the world available for the purpose of God’s Kingdom. We can make a proclamation from the Word of God concerning His Kingdom and His Holy Nation?

The United States Bullion Depository, commonly called Fort Knox, is a fortified vault building located near Fort Knox, Kentucky which is used to store a large portion of United States official gold reserves, as well as from time to time, other precious items belonging to, or entrusted to, the United States of America.

The United States Bullion Depository holds about 4,603 tons (4,176 metric tonnes) of gold bullion (147.399 million ounces[1]). It is second in the United States only to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's underground vault in Manhattan, which holds about 5,000 metric tons of gold in trust for many foreign nations, central banks and official international organizations.

History

Before the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932, gold coins had circulated freely in the United States as legal money, and gold bullion was owned by banks and other private entities. In early 1933, as part of the New Deal, the U.S. Congress enacted a package of laws which removed gold from circulation as money, and which made private ownership of gold in the U.S. (except for coins in collections or jewelry such as wedding rings) illegal. All gold in circulation was seized by the government in exchange for dollars at the fixed rate of $20.67 per ounce. Owners of gold bullion in the U.S. were also required to trade it for other forms of money. All of this left the government of the United States with a large amount of gold metal, and no place to store it.

In 1936, the U.S. Treasury Department began construction of the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on land transferred from the military. The Gold Vault was completed in December 1936 at a cost of $560,000, or about $7.5 million in 2007 dollars. The site is located on what is now Bullion Boulevard at the intersection of Gold Vault Road.

The first gold shipments were made from January to July 1937. The majority of the United States' gold reserves were gradually shipped to the site, including old bullion and more newly made bars made from melted gold coins. Some intact coins were stored, as well. The transfer needed 500 rail cars and was sent by registered mail, protected by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

During World War II, the repository held the original U.S. Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. It also held the reserves of several European countries and several key documents from Western history; for example, it held the Crown of St. Stephen, part of the Hungarian crown jewels given to American soldiers to prevent them from falling into Soviet hands. The repository also held one of four known copies (exemplifications) of the Magna Carta, which had been sent for display at the 1939 New York World Fair, and when war broke out, was kept in America for the duration.

Construction and security

Below the fortress-like structure lies the gold vault, which is lined with granite walls and is protected by a blast-proof door that weighs 22 tons. No single person is entrusted with the combination to the vault. Various members of the Depository staff must dial separate combinations known only by them. Beyond the main vault door, smaller internal "cells" provide further protection.

The facility is ringed with several fences and is under armed guard by officers of the United States Mint Police. The Depository premises are within the site of Fort Knox, a United States Army post, allowing the Army to provide additional protection. The Depository is protected by numerous layers of physical security, alarms, video cameras, armed guards, and the Army units based at Fort Knox, including Apache helicopter gunships of 4/229 Aviation based at Godman Army Airfield, the 16th Cavalry Regiment, training battalions of the United States Army Armor School, and the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Infantry Division as it returns from Iraq in the summer of 2008, totaling over 30,000 soldiers, with associated tanks, armored personnel carriers, attack helicopters, and artillery.

Gold and coin holdings

Gold holdings peaked during World War II at 649.6 million troy ounces (20,205 metric tons). Current holdings are around 147.3 million ounces[1] (4,570 t) in around 368,000 standard 400 troy ounce (12.4 kg or 27.4 lb avoirdupois) gold bars. At April 2008 rates of $913 an ounce it is worth roughly $134 billion, while the World War II total of 649.6 million troy ounces would be worth approximately $593 billion.[2]

The depository also holds monetary gold coins. It also holds several specimens of Sacagawea Dollar coins made out of 22kt (91.6% pure) gold from blanks that are used to strike the $25 half-ounce American Gold Eagle bullion pieces made for an unknown project. The 1933 Double Eagle was also a temporary resident after transfer from 7 WTC in July 2001, until its sale in July 2002 for $7.59 million. Sometime in 2004, 10 additional allegedly stolen 1933 Double Eagles were transported to Fort Knox for safekeeping.

Not all the gold bars held in the depository are of exactly the same composition. The mint gold bars are nearly pure gold. Bars made from melted gold coins, however, called "coin bars," are the same composition as the original coins. Unlike many .999 fine gold bullion coins minted in modern times for holding-purposes today, the coin alloy for pre-1932 U.S. coins, which were intended for circulation, was a much tougher and wear-resistant .900 fine alloy (balance copper) derived historically from 22-carat crown gold (a similar alloy consisting of .917 gold, .030 silver, .053 copper is still used in modern U.S. American Gold Eagle bullion coins).

All of the gold in the depository, if pure, could form a cube 19.7 feet (6 m) on a side — a volume of 216 m³. In comparison, all the gold ever mined in the world would form a cube 64.3 feet (19.6 m) on a side, with a volume of approximately 7500 m³.[1]

The United States holds more gold bullion than any other country, with about 2.37 times that of the next leading country, Germany.

Conspiracy theory

A popular and recurring conspiracy theory, as alleged by Edward Durrell, Norman Dodd, Peter Beter and others, claims that the vault is mostly empty and that most of the gold in Fort Knox was removed to London in the late 1960s by President Lyndon Johnson.[3] In response, on September 23, 1974, Senator Walter Huddleston of Kentucky, twelve congressmen, and about 100 members of the news media toured the vault and opened various cells and doors, each filled with gold. Radio reporter Bill Evans, when asked if it seemed like the gold might have been moved in just for the visit, replied that "all I can say is that I saw gold there" and that it seemed like it was always there.[4] Additionally, audits of the gold by the General Accounting Office (in cooperation with the United States Mint and the United States Customs Service in 1974 and the Treasury Department) from 1975-1981 found no discrepancies between the reported and actual amounts of gold at the Depository.[5] However, the audit has been described as a peculiar process because it was only a partial audit done over an extended period of time.[6] The report states only 21 percent of the gold bars were audited as of 1981 (the audit report's issue date) and that the audit has "covered more than 212.7 million fine troy ounces of gold" which "represents over 80 percent of the total amount of United States-owned gold of 264.1 million fine troy ounces."[5] A small amount of gold is removed for regularly scheduled audits to ensure the purity matches official records.[1] The theory continues to persist, however. Of this alleged scandal, the ex-general counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Peter Beter, commented: "The Watergate scandal was child's play compared with the covered-up Fort Knox Gold Scandal".[7]

In popular culture

The bullion depository has become a symbol of an impregnable vault, leading to phrases such as "locked up tighter than Fort Knox" or "safer than Fort Knox".

Fort Knox is a United States Army post in Kentucky south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown. The base covers parts of Bullitt, Hardin, and Meade counties, with Hardin county receiving the largest benefit, economically. It holds the U.S. Army Armor Center, the U.S. Army Armor School and the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.[1] It is also the site of the U.S. Bullion Depository and the General George Patton Museum,[2] both located on or near the army post. Parts of the base in Hardin and Meade Counties form a census-designated place (CDP), which had a population of 12,377 at the 2000 census.

Fort Knox has become an almost colloquial term in the English language, its name associated with high-tech security, impregnability and excess amounts of wealth. This occurrence has become proliferated due to the use of the site in media such as the 1959 James Bond novel Goldfinger by Ian Fleming, and the 1964 movie of the same name and its appearance in the 1981 comedy film Stripes, both of which utilize the large-scale security of the fort in the main narrative.

History

Fortification

Fortifications were constructed near the site in 1861, during the Civil War when Fort Duffield was constructed. Fort Duffield was located on what was known as Muldraugh Hill on a strategic point overlooking the confluence of the Salt and Ohio Rivers and the Louisville and Nashville Turnpike. The area was contested by both Union and Confederate forces. Bands of organized guerrillas frequently raided the area during the war. John Hunt Morgan [3] the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry for the confederate army raided the area before staging his famous raid on Indiana and Ohio known as Morgan's Raid.[4]

Post war

After the war, the area now occupied by the Army was home to various small communities. In October 1903, military maneuvers for the Regular Army and the National Guards of several states were held at West Point, Kentucky and the surrounding area. [5] In April 1918, field artillery units from Camp Zachary Taylor arrived at West Point for training. 10,000 acres (40 km²) near to the village of Stithton were leased to the government and construction for a permanent training center was started in July 1918.

New camp

The new camp was named after Henry Knox, the Continental Army's chief of artillery during the Revolutionary War and the country's first Secretary of War. The camp was extended by the purchase of a further 40,000 acres (162 km²) in June 1918 and construction properly began in July 1918. The building program was reduced following the end of the war and reduced further following cuts to the army in 1921 after the National Defense Act of 1920. The camp was greatly reduced and became a semi-permanent training center for the 5th Corps Area for Reserve Officer training, the National Guard, and Citizen's Military Training Camps (CMTC). For a short while, from 1925 to 1928, the area was designated as "Camp Henry Knox National Forest."[6]

Air Corps usage

The post contains an airfield, called Godman Army Airfield, that was used by the United States Army Air Corps, and its successor, the United States Army Air Forces as a training base during World War II. It was used by the Kentucky Air National Guard for several years after the war until they relocated to Standiford Field in Louisville. The airfield is still in use by the United States Army Aviation Branch.

Mechanized military unit occupation

In 1931 a small force of the mechanized cavalry was assigned to Camp Knox to use it as a training site. The camp was turned into a permanent garrison in January 1932 and renamed Fort Knox. The 1st Cavalry Regiment arrived later in the month to become the 1st Cavalry Regiment (Mechanized).

In 1936 the 1st was joined by the 13th to become the 7th Cavalry Brigade (Mechanized). The site quickly became the center for mechanization tactics and doctrine. The success of the German mechanized units at the start of World War II was a major impetus to operations at the fort. A new Armored Force was established in July 1940 with its headquarters at Fort Knox with the 7th Cavalry Brigade becoming the 1st Armored Division. The Armored Force School and the Armored Force Replacement Center were also sited at Fort Knox in October 1940, and their successors remain located there today. The site was expanded to cope with its new role. By 1943, there were 3,820 buildings on 106,861 acres (432 km²). A third of the base has been torn down within the last ten years, with another third slated by 2010.

The history of the US Army's Cavalry and Armored forces, and of General George S. Patton's career, can be found at the General George Patton Museum which is located at Fort Knox.[7]

Fort Knox is one of the places where the Army conducts Basic Combat Training and it is home to the Army ROTC Leader's Training Course, under the auspices of the 46th Infantry Regiment, and is used by both the Army and the Marine Corps to train crews on the M1 Abrams main battle tank. From 1967 to 1994, the post was home to the 194th Armored Brigade, a combat unit which, amongst other duties, assisted Armored School training.[8] The 194th has been reactivated as the unit responsible for armor training.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has maintained the Bullion Depository on the post since 1937. This facility is operated by the Treasury Department and is independent of the Army's operations there.

Welcome to Fort Knox, home of the Army Armor Center and home to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Located just 35 miles from Louisville, Fort Knox encompasses 109,000 acres in three Kentucky counties. Fort Knox has a population of over 23,000 Soldiers, family members and civilians.

The Armor Center and School is the largest organization on Fort Knox and performs the mission of training all armor Soldiers and Marines. The Army Recruiting Command headquarters conducts the mission of bringing men and women into the U.S. Army. Additionally, the Eastern Region of the ROTC is headquartered at Fort Knox. The Army Accessions Command has personnel on post and will relocate the headquarters here as a result of the BRAC decisions of 2005. Units located on Fort Knox are considered “Partners in Excellence” and include active duty Army organizations, Army Reserve, National Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps.

Also located at Fort Knox is the Patton Museum of Armor and Cavalry. There is no fee for entrance, but donations are accepted. A new public access parking lot provides easy access to the museum.

FORT KNOX --- GOLD

This is the place where the gold is stored. It is in a huge above the ground vault with probably many floors beneath. It is heavily, heavily guarded and a high fence surrounds it but you can easily see it from the road. There is a park across the street which is where we were stopped by military police. Henry believes there is a 'city' underground there and other places on post. When I first went I was struck by the vast open spaces throughout the post. He told me it was common to build more underground in strategic places than on top.

Also, during the 70's and early 80's my uncle was a US Senator from Kentucky. Sometime during his two terms there was a rumor that all the gold had been removed from the vault and that it was empty. For security reasons they were getting ready to close it to the public but needed to put the rumor to rest. My uncle served on the foreign relations committee and other national security related committees. I am not sure why, perhaps because he represented Kentucky, but he was appointed to take a group of high level US officials and others on the last tour through the vault to prove the gold was still there. Everything was documented and filmed for TV. I lived in Georgia at the time and didn't get much news about it at the time. A year or so ago I was flipping through TV channels and landed on the history station just as they were zooming in on his face! Was I surprised! I have often felt that since he was part of the sealing of the vault I would somehow be part of the reopening of it for God's people. Also, there are crown jewels from England and some other things in the vault which is interesting! They have a website (Ft. Knox) and I think there is a picture of the building. It is quite a fortress. I asked my uncle last year at the family reunion if he ever thought about going back there again. He didn't talk about it much. I don't think he sees it as an important issue in light of the other things he was involved in. I will see him again next month.

By the way, right before the gold was moved to Kentucky we were a prosperous state. It was moved it here in 1937, and the great flood followed that same year. Within two years we went from the second highest income in the nation to second from the bottom. I spoke to Jim Chosa about it once. He seemed almost too nervous to even talk about it. He did tell me that shamans of every Indian tribe had placed generational curses on the gold, many through blood sacrifices. To this day, some will not accept our currency as gifts, only the goods that it buys because of those curses. When I led that last team I forbid them to touch the gold at all. We will have to have just the right mix to step into that one. Pastor Jan Painter and I felt we would need someone on the team who is an American Indian and I had hoped Jim and Faith might be the ones but he told me to stay away from it and I am sure he wouldn't go near it. We have been watching and waiting since 1999. This may be the year! We will need extraordinary prayer coverage for ourselves and our families, etc. Pastor Jan will want to be there when we go for the gold!
